Tasting Notes
Here are more details on each of the wines in the Tasting Pack:
•
2010 Cabernet Sauvignon
A full-bodied wine with typical Cabernet Sauvignon aromas of blackberry, blackcurrant and
herbs. It has complex fruit-driven flavours, with overtones of liquorice and chocolate along with
well integrated tannins.
Aged in French oak barriques, the rich fruit flavours provide a platform for the complexity that
the oak has given. A wine to be enjoyed now or cellared for up to 5 - 8 years.
•
2009 Merlot
Over the last 12 months this Merlot
has developed wonderfully and is now
a beautiful wine. A cool climate Merlot
with flavours of berries and ripe plums,
and a mocha complexity. A wine to
enjoy now, or cellar for 3 to 5 years.
IMMENSELY POPULAR, SILVER
MEDAL & BRONZE MEDAL
•
2009 Shiraz
This complex, full-bodied wine displays
classic Shiraz characteristics of blackberry, spice and earthiness with aromas of liquorice and
rich, chocolatey oak. Tannins are balanced and well integrated.
A wine to be enjoyed now or cellared for up to 5 - 8 years. SILVER MEDAL & BRONZE MEDAL
•
2011 Roussanne
Roussanne is a white wine grape grown originally in the Rhône wine region in France, where it
is often blended with Marsanne. The berries have a russet colour and ‘roux’, the French term
for this reddish brown colour, is the root of the variety's name.
This vintage was late-harvested and has aromas of baked pear, peach and hints of herbal tea.
The palate has stonefruit, honey and pear flavours which will develop some nuttiness with
aging. It has a nicely balanced acidity providing freshness.
A wine to enjoy now or cellar for several years. BRONZE MEDAL, LIMITED STOCK
•
2011 Rosé
This is a luscious rosé-style wine made from Shiraz and Merlot grapes selected and harvested
specifically for this wine. It has intense and appealing aromas of strawberry and raspberry with
nuances of cherry and spice. The palate has lingering juicy, berry flavours balanced with a soft
natural acidity that leads to a long flavoursome finish.
Serve it well chilled, as a drink to linger over on the verandah, or as an accompaniment to
summer meals.
•
2010 Vintage Port
This port is so good that we couldn’t leave it out of the Tasting Pack. A rich, mellow Vintage
Port made from late-harvest Cabernet Sauvignon grapes and bottled after fortification with
some 15 year old brandy and oak barrel maturation.
It is great now, but it will also continue to develop further over the next 10 years, to produce
mouth-filling flavours of blackberry, fruitcake, liquorice and spice.
Serve after a meal with coffee and chocolates or with tasty cheeses. BRONZE MEDAL,
LIMITED STOCK
