wines

The Belgrave Park Winery produces two separate ranges of wines -

  • 'The Hair of the Dog', quality contemporary wines but priced for everyday enjoyment.

  • 'The Peak Alone', our premium reserve selection. Only wines classified by our winemaker, Warwick Adams, as 'something special' are selected for this label.

The main varieties that we grow are Shiraz, Merlot and Viognier. These are complemented each year by selected other varieties such as Sangiovese, Verdelho, Marsanne and Roussanne. Our objective is always to have a high quality, interesting range and all our wines are made on the premises

This vintage is intense and fruity, with aromas of savoury plum, liquorice and herbs. It was aged in French oak barriques for 12 months, which give a robust mouthful of chocolatey oak and integrated tannins.
A wine to be enjoyed now or cellared for up to 5 years.

Aged in French oak barriques, the rich fruit flavours provide a platform for the complexity that the oak has given.
A wine to be enjoyed now or cellared for up to 5 - 8 years.

2009 merlot

Merlot is most famous in its homeland of Bordeaux in France, where it is used to make some of the world's greatest and most expensive wines. Over the last twenty years plantings have expanded rapidly across the globe, although the best Merlot’s come from the cooler regions.
This cool climate Merlot has flavours of berries and ripe plums, with a mocha complexity. Aged in French oak barriques, this gives a balanced cedar-like finish.
A wine to enjoy now, or cellar for 3 to 5 years.

Roussanne is a white wine grape grown originally in the Rhône wine region in France, where it is often blended with Marsanne. The berries have a russet colour and ‘roux’, the French term for this reddish brown colour, is the root of the variety's name.
This vintage was late harvested and has aromas of baked pear, peach and hints of herbal tea. The palate has stonefruit, honey and pear flavours which will develop some nuttiness with aging. It has a nicely balanced acidity providing freshness.
A wine to enjoy now or cellar for several years. BRONZE MEDAL, LIMITED STOCK

2010 vintage port

A rich, mellow Vintage Port made from late-harvest Cabernet Sauvignon grapes and bottled after fortification with some aged 15 year old brandy and oak barrel maturation.
