As you have
probably noticed, we have a dog theme throughout the Belgrave Park business -
-
One of our
wine labels is called 'The Hair of the Dog'
-
The
self-contained cottage is called 'Working Dog'
-
Our
residence is called 'Paws a While'
Its all quite simple - our two border collies, 'Jetty' and Mac', insist on being
involved. Although they are excellent sheepdogs, unfortunately they can't make wine, help out in the cellar
door or change sheets in the cottage, so it is only fair that they had a
say in the names.
Jetty is a
valuable vineyard worker though - she is trained to chase crows away if
they start getting into the ripening bunches. Just say 'Jetty - crows!'
and she is away - hurtling down the rows and barking furiously.
Whereas Mac
just eats the grapes and pesters visitors for a pat.
what about 'the
peak alone' label then?
Not everyone in
the world is a dog lover. That's OK, but those who aren't sometimes don't get the point of the 'Hair of the Dog' label - that it's
intended as fun, contemporary and not too serious. So we also have a
more traditional and conservative label for our premium wine range.
